Job Summary:
We are looking for a hands-on, highly organized Operations / General Manager to oversee day-to-day operations and ensure DOT compliance, driver management, and reporting accuracy. The ideal candidate is a strong leader, people-oriented, data-driven, and comfortable being available on-call 24/7 by phone. You must be able to manage multiple drivers and staff, keep operations running smoothly, and generate reports using office systems and tools. This leadership position reports directly to the Vice President and plays a key role in the daily operations and growth of our transportation company.
Required Qualifications:
- Oversee daily operations including scheduling, dispatch, and driver coordination.
- Manage a team of drivers and ensure consistent communication and support.
- Maintain full compliance with DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Be available 24/7 by phone to respond to urgent operational needs.
- Create and maintain operational reports, driver logs, and compliance documents.
- Track performance metrics and use data to drive process improvements.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure documentation is up to date.
- Support customer service and vendor coordination.
- Lead and mentor staff, creating a positive and productive team environment.
- Experience managing drivers, fleet, or field operations.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills must be a people person and team leader.
- Highly proficient with data able to generate, analyze, and present reports.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and operational software.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage 24/7 on-call responsibilities.
- Valid driver’s license (no CDL required).
Preferred Qualifications:
- DOT and/or OSHA compliance certification (preferred).
- Experience in a transportation, logistics, or service-based environment.
- Familiarity with dispatch or scheduling software.
- Bachelor's degree in business, Operations, or related field (preferred, not required).
Key Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience, preferably in transportation or logistics.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).
- Excellent communication and personnel management skills.
- Highly organized with experience in scheduling and resource planning.
- Quick learner with solid math skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to pass a background check and DOT drug screening.
