Position Overview

Under direction of the Local Office Administrator, serves as Employment and Training Coordinator for an assigned geographical area. Organizes, plans, executes, controls, and evaluates employment and training programs for Family and Community Services. Directs and updates activity in making and tracking referrals for clients, reviews progress of participation. Establishes and maintains relationships with local employers and employment contractors. Markets the Employment and Training program in the assigned geographical area.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as Employment and Training Coordinator.
  • Develops positive communication and relationships with local employers and training resources, both those with DHS contracts and those outside the contractual relationships; commits the region to specific courses of action by entering into agreements with local employers.
  • Directs, guides, and assists local FCRC staff on the completion of action(s) on returned referrals, progress reports, attendance sheets, and budgeting earned income received from contractors to ensure that action is taken with clients who do not participate in accordance with their responsibility or service plan/employability plan; reviews progress reports for clients requiring reconciliation or sanction and follows-up with caseworker staff and managers until the completion of corrective actions.
  • Organizes community-wide events allowing clients and employment and training resources to meet and identify opportunities for relations that enhance employment and training activity; recruits providers for these events; identifies and secures community location for events; develops and executes a marketing plan for the function, such as job fairs and employment seminars, including marketing to potential employment and training providers; explains or provides contact for screening process and offers to establish partner relationships.
  • Monitors and assists staff in maintaining the mandated federal participation rate for core activities of the cash programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration.
  • Requires one (1) year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

Specialized Skills

  • Of the one (1) year of required experience, requires one (1) year of professional experience making and tracking referrals to employment contractors utilizing public assistance eligibility system software such as Integrated Eligibility Systems (IES).

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of professional experience making and tracking referrals to employment contractors utilizing public assistance eligibility system software such as Integrated Eligibility Systems (IES).
  • Three (3) years of professional experience developing positive communication and relationships with employers and training resources.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience assisting staff on the completion of referrals, progress reports, attendance sheets, and budgeting received from contractors.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience organizing community-wide events, allowing clients and employment and training resources to meet and identify opportunities for relations that enhance employment and training activity.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience monitoring and assisting staff in maintaining the mandated federal participation rate for activities of cash programs.

Work Hours:  Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm, 1-hour unpaid lunch.
