Overview

How You’ll Make an Impact

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager – Email Developer to lead and manage a portion of our tenured and seasoned email development team. This is a hands-on, in-office role requiring a balance of technical leadership, team management, and direct development work. You’ll supervise a team of four developers (two leads and two mid-level developers) while actively contributing to the coding, testing, and optimization of email campaigns. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, highly organized, and passionate about developing engaging, high-performing emails that support our digital marketing strategy. This is a working manager role.

What You’ll Achieve

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and mentoring to a team of 4 email developers.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning.
  • Lead all aspects of workload distribution, project prioritization, and timely delivery of assets.
  • Cultivate a collaborative, accountable, and productive team environment.
  • Serve as the go-to person for addressing customer concerns related to technical or process issues within the team.
  • Craft and develop adaptable, accessible, and visually compelling HTML emails.
  • Write clean, reusable, and optimized code across ESPs (Epsilon PeopleCloud Messaging, ExactTarget/SFMC, Braze, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, etc.).
  • Implement personalization and dynamic content using scripting tools such as AMPscript, Handlebars, Ruby/Liquid and Freemarker.
  • QA and test emails across devices, browsers, and clients to ensure compatibility and deliverability.
  • Maintain and improve modular code libraries and design systems.
  • Work closely with marketing managers, designers, and CRM strategists to turn concepts into effective email experiences.
  • Participate in campaign planning, calendar reviews, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure adherence to email marketing legal standards such as CAN-SPAM and GDPR.
  • Lead vendor/partner relationships where applicable.

Who You Are

  • What You’ll Bring With you:
    • 7+ years of hands-on email development experience.
    • 3+ years of people management or team leadership experience in a development environment.
    • Deep knowledge of HTML, CSS, and adaptable email frameworks.
    • Proficiency in one or more enterprise ESPs (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Campaign, Epsilon PCM, etc.).
    • Experience with dynamic content languages such as Freemarker, Ruby/Liquid, AMPscript or Handlebars.
    • Expertise in Litmus, Email on Acid, or similar testing platforms.
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must be available to work on-site 3-5 days per week (this is not a remote position).

    • Experience with Agile workflows and tools (e.g., Jira, Asana).
    • Understanding of CRM segmentation, A/B testing, and analytics.
    • Familiarity with email deliverability tools and practices.

Base Salary: $93,948 - $156,581

Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon, but not limited to the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location and application employment laws. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
