Job Summary
This Machinist supports the Aero shop and Machine shop in running large CNC/Manual lathes, CNC/Manual VTLs, and CNC/Manual Mills, holding tight tolerances, meeting OEM requirements and specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements for the Gas turbine, Steam turbine, and Aero components.
Job Description
As a CNC/Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting safety culture and driving a safe-to-start mindset
- Aligning large rotors, gas components, and parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections
- Programming CNC lathes, VTLs, and milling machines
- Reading and interpreting documents such as OEM drawings, REIs, Work Instructions, and Digital Routers
- Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry
- Calculating and setting controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut, or entering commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media
- Starting and observing machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusting machine controls as required
- Selecting, aligning, and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders

Skills Required
- 10+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrate advances/expert skill level (indicate part, turn OD's, turn ID's, Grinding and burnishing on; CNC mill, CNC lathe, and NC (figure feed rates), Manual mill, Manual lathe, Manual VTL
- Supporting Rotor shop and Machine shop based on customer needs
- Steam rotors, Gas rotors, Cases, Gas components, Aero components, and Value rack repairs
- Have the ability to operate Manual machines as well as CNC machines
- Experience in Gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10's, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7) Rotors and component machining is a big plus
Education/Training/Certifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Additional Requirements
- Shift Hours: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm + OT
Pay Rate/Salary
- $22.00 - $24.00/hr. depending on experience
